Georgetown locals mourning the loss of Peet’s Coffee Shop will soon be able to ease their pain with a sweet treat. Expanding donut concept The Salty has plans for the cafe’s old M Street home, reports The Georgetown Metropolitan.

Plans filed with the Commission of Fine Arts show that the chain has relatively extensive work ahead of it for the 3299 M Street NW building. The Salty states that both interior and exterior alterations are necessary to turn the space from a coffee shop into a donut paradise.

Listed renovations include a number of cosmetic changes, including new exterior signage, new wood panelling, new cornices, and quite a bit of repainting. Interior plans show that-while it will be limited-the shop will offer seating for customers hoping to enjoy their treats immediately.

The Salty received approval for the new signage on February 6; while this does not provide an opening timeline, it does suggest Georgetowners may still have a considerable wait ahead of them, before they can sample the bakery’s fare.

Founded in 2014 by Amanda Pizarro and Andy Rodriguez, The Salty has made a name for itself, thanks to its commitment to culinary excellence and community engagement. The company’s website states its admirable ethos as: “we believe in the transformative power of a really freakin’ good donut, baked goods and a perfectly crafted coffee. We strive to tell stories through our ever-changing menus of new flavors and weave ourselves into the fabric of the neighborhoods we’re in to create spaces for the community to gather and positively impact those around us. Simply put, we like to make people feel good.”
