A Clarendon building is trading out books for good food, cold beer, and flying axes. Three Notch’d Brewing Company is taking over part of the space vacated by Barnes & Noble at The Crossing Clarendon, reports local media outlet ARLNow.

The popular Virginia concept has signed a lease for 10,160 square feet at the 2800 Clarendon Boulevard building. Barnes & Noble will remain on site, however it is moving its business to the upper floor, allowing the brewery the ground level.

The Three Notch’d takeover is still in the early phases; internal renovations are required before the concept can begin greeting guests. Construction will begin in 2025, and future Clarendon regulars can anticipate the restaurant opening in the third quarter of 2026.

Three Notch’d promise to offer an exciting night on the town, with experiences and pleasures beyond just the culinary. Once completed, the space will include a full taproom, a kitchen, a whiskey distillery, and a dedicated ax throwing space.

Customers can look forward to an array of classic pub fare.

Three Notch’d CEO George Kastendike is hopeful that the concept will be able to form a symbiotic relationship with Barnes & Noble and the local community. He states: “The best thing that we can do up there is be an awesome neighbor, and just see if there’s a fit for Barnes & Noble customers to take in our experience, and vice versa.”
