Fresh, delicious Indian food is finally pulling into Lovettsville. Train to Mumbai is bringing the notably absent cuisine to the area later this winter, reports local media outlet The Burn.

The restaurant is wrapping up construction on a 1,100 square foot space at 11 Town Center Drive, Suite 185. Train to Mumbai will be a pivotal draw of the new Lovettsville Town Commons development.

Owner Sanjay Gusain spoke with What Now DC about filling Loudoun County’s Indian food void. “I’ve been living in Lovettsville for almost 8 years now” he says, “and there is no Indian food offering in Lovettsville and it’s neighboring towns. I saw an opportunity for a small Indian joint with heavy emphasis on take-out.”

While Train to Mumbai will stress take-out by allowing customers to order online or to call the restaurant directly, the eatery will provide space for those who prefer an inviting, casual in-house dining experience. “We’ll have a small, cozy seating area for about 20.” Gusain explains. “Upon entering the eatery, our guests should feel like they are visiting my house and sitting at my kitchen table. We are not a fine dining restaurant, neither do we want to be!  We’re a locally owned and operated small neighborhood eatery, taking immense pride in our food offerings.”

Visitors hoping to pair their meals with a refreshing libation are in luck. Gusain explains that Train to Mumbai’s beverage selection will be an excellent counterpoint to its cuisine, stating “We’ll have a small yet interesting collection of beers and wine which should complement different layers of spice level.”

Train to Mumbai is in the process of construction and hopes to begin greeting guests by the first week in March. Sanjay is working hard to ensure Train to Mumbai makes a positive impression on Loudoun County. His attention is dedicated to creating the best possible dining experience. The restaurateur states “My 100% focus is to ensure a successful opening and establish a strong take-out customer base in Lovettsville and surrounding towns. However I would love to bring a similar concept with a little more seating capacity in Purcellville, along with a small Indian inspired cocktail program.”

  • This title is absolutely ridiculous and misleading. Loudoun has a large and thriving Indian population, including several excellent restaurants. I’m sure this one will be great too, but to suggest that this restaurant is “introducing Indian cuisine to Loudoun County” is so out of touch with reality.
