Urban Roast, one of the DMV region’s most striking cafes, has spent years wowing DC customers with its gorgeous atmosphere and superior drinks and food. The concept challenges the limits of what, precisely, a cafe can be, and soon District residents will have even more opportunity to indulge in its ambiance. Urban Roast is opening a new location at The Wharf, and signs point to the opening being close enough to taste, reports local media outlet PoPville.
Signage for the cafe is up at its new 620 Maine Ave, SW home. Locals have good reason to be excited; Urban Roast is bringing something truly unique to the neighborhood. Alongside its incredibly Instagram-able “Rose Room”, the storefront boasts a 1,600 square foot patio-the largest on The Wharf. The eatery will be using its copious outdoor space well, featuring a marble fountain and communal firepits.
An opening date is not presently available, however a community provided picture suggests that Urban Roast needs only a few more finishing touches before it will be ready for customers.
DC residents keen to enjoy the Urban Roast experience can check out its existing location at Penn Quarter.
The Urban Roast website offers a little history and a little peak as to what’s in store for future customers, saying: “Founded by brothers Kamal, Anthony, and Joseph Azzouz, Urban Roast opened its doors in the summer of 2020, navigating the challenges of launching a restaurant during a pandemic. With determination and a shared vision, the brothers set out to offer the downtown D.C. area a café experience like no other. What began as a concept for a grab-and-go café quickly transformed into a versatile dining destination featuring a cozy dining room, a lively pop-up bar, and inviting outdoor fire pits perfect for s’mores.”
