A beloved (and ambitious) national chain is preparing to bring Clarendon shoppers an extra scoop of sweetness. Van Leeuwen Ice Cream is opening a new Arlington location in the Crossing Clarendon retail center, reports local media outlet ARLNow.
The ice creamery will be filling the void left when Nicecream vacates its current 2831 Clarendon Boulevard home. The space’s current occupant has opted not to renew its lease and will cease operations at that location this fall, after which Van Leeuwen will take up residence in the storefront. While this does not provide an absolute opening timeline, it is likely the sweet shop will be able to greet guests by the end of 2025.
According to the Regency Centers website, Van Leeuwen will have a dedicated 863 square feet to scoop its celebrated ice cream in.
Van Leeuwen has already amassed a fan-following in the DMV thanks to its seven regional locations-six of which are in DC, with the seventh in Arlington at National Landing. The New York based company has garnered considerable praise in its 17 years on the market thanks to its commitment to simple but quality ingredients.
