While it is always exciting when an old favorite opens a new location, there’s something particularly thrilling about the next-big-thing dreamed up by an established culinary hit-maker. Restauranter Bo Blair is preparing to provide Chevy Chase with precisely that; the mind behind Surfside and Millie’s is bringing his newest concept, Wheelhouse, to the neighborhood next year, reports local media outlet PoPville.

Wheelhouse, described as an American bistro and ice cream concept on the official Chevy Chase Instagram page, was not the original tenant planned for 5712-14 Connecticut Ave, NW. Blair’s Georgetown Events Hospitality Group initially planned to open Due South in the former home of Wine and Organic but shifted restaurants.

A great deal is still unknown about Wheelhouse, however Blair is confident the eatery will become a community staple. He states: “Wheelhouse will bring to Chevy Chase what Millie’s did for Spring Valley.”

Wheelhouse will feature a sizable bar and cultivate a nautical atmosphere. What Now DC will be following the restaurant’s progress, and Chevy Chase diners will get to taste it for themselves when it opens in spring.
