Very few pairings have defined the culinary scene more comprehensively than bars and athletics. The two have a symbiotic relationship-every game is more fun with a good beer and wings are more delicious enjoyed while watching the home team clobber their rivals. A Virginia staple that brings diners the best of both worlds is getting ready to open its newest home. Wood & Iron Gameday Restaurant & Bar will be inviting customers to root for their favorite teams while enjoying a good meal and a drink early next year.

The beloved sports bar will be opening its fourth location at 3401 North Fairfax Drive, Suite 1331. Wood & Iron Gameday Restaurant & Bar has applied for a liquor license with the Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority, an exciting sign of forward momentum. Even more exciting, however, is the confirmation co-owner Steve Rogge provided to What Now DC that the tavern is on track for a mid-February opening.

While Wood & Iron is bound to become a favorite hangout for sports enthusiasts, its appeal won’t be limited to the athletic world. The concept is a welcoming restaurant with delicious fare, certain to appeal to the local foodie demographic. Rogge previously described the establishment-and it’s winning atmosphere-to What Now DC, saying: “Wood & Iron Game Day is a dynamic, polished sports bar and restaurant that blends great food, a vibrant atmosphere, and top-notch sports entertainment. Known for its inviting ambiance and friendly staff, the restaurant offers a diverse menu featuring American classics, from juicy burgers and award-winning wings to fresh salads and signature dishes. Complementing the food is an extensive selection of craft beers, cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverages, catering to a variety of tastes.”

Wood & Iron has already made a strong impression on Virginia, with three locations open and in operation. The concept has spots in Henrico, Midlothian, and Richmond. Wood & Iron has given Arlington residents reason to be excited about February-as the website states: “At Wood and Iron you’ll find great comfort food and great people. Our menu features classics with a dash of creativity so you’ll always find something you love and still have the chance to taste something new.”
