Clarendon foodies are getting a new home for acclaimed Chinese cuisine, lauded by no less than Anthony Bourdain. Xi’an Famous Foods is bringing its celebrated fare to a new DMV home later this summer, reports local media outlet ARLNow.
The fast-casual Chinese restaurant will be opening at 2800 Clarendon Boulevard as part of the Crossing Clarendon shopping center. Xi’an Famous Foods is moving into the space that used to be Barnes & Nobles’ groundfloor space, neighboring Three Notch’d Brewing Company.
The construction necessary to turn the space into the chain’s next home is already underway. Once completed, Xi’an Famous Foods will have the seating to accommodate around 84 customers.
The Clarendon location will not be DMV diners’ first introduction to Xi’an Famous Foods; the concept has two other locations open in the area. This new storefront will differentiate itself from the Alexandria, Virginia and Washington, DC restaurants through offering dine-in; the existing spots are takeaway and delivery only.
Arlington diners can look forward to choosing from a menu consisting of a range of family recipes. The website explains: “We make our family’s versions of Xi’an classics. Think: biang-biang noodles pulled to order, dumplings doused in our signature dipping sauce, and a refreshing, vinegary liang pi for hot summer days (or any day).”
Xi’an Famous Foods does not yet have a precise opening date for its Clarendon storefront, however locals should be able to enjoy the concept’s cuisine before the end of this summer; the restaurant is on deck to be customer-ready by August.
