A fresh coffee empire is preparing to greet a new day in the DMV. Zeke’s Coffee, already known and celebrated throughout the District, has plans for a new location in Brookland, reports local media outlet PoPville.
Details about the cafe’s new location remain somewhat elusive; while it is established that Zeke’s will be a part of Brookland, its precise address is not yet known. Additionally, the cafe has no official opening timeline available.
A social media post from Zeke’s official Facebook account states: “Hello Brookland! A little something coming soon to the other end of the neighborhood…”, offering an early hint at the coffee shop’s location.
Zeke’s currently has three cafes open and in operation across the District; one on Rhode Island Avenue, another on 15th Street, and a third on 14th Street. The brand has been an established DMV favorite since its founding in 2008.
The company website offers this insight into what makes the roastery so special, saying: “At Zeke’s, we use an environmentally friendly Loring coffee roaster, which uses 80% less energy than your typical roaster. This type of roasters uses hot air to roast coffee beans more quickly and uniformly than a conventional drum roaster. We roast to temperature, giving us a more consistent product. Chaff escapes the roast chamber easily, leading to cleaner tasting coffee with more distinct regional flavors.
We roast in small batches. It guarantees freshness. Our roaster holds 25 pounds of coffee, compared to the 150 pounds that a standard roaster holds. Because of this, we put more time, more labor, and a little more of ourselves into each bean. You can taste the difference.”
