Libre will soon open its doors in the Ladd’s Addition area, located at 2601 SE Clinton Street, confirmed by its co-owner Ketsuda “Nan” Chaison.
“We are planning to be able to open around Halloween. Our goal is late September, or early October of this year overall,” Chaison told What Now Portland.
“The aesthetics of Libre will transport you to a world of allure and sophistication. Picture yourself lounging in plush velvet booths, surrounded by velvet curtains and a magnificent tropical bird mural adorning the walls. The bar will exude a modern charm, with a veneer that wraps around the bar, and a stunning modern chandelier illuminating the space. The atmosphere will evoke the allure of a classic speakeasy, making Libre the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy a sumptuous dessert and cocktail after a satisfying dinner.”
Ketsuda stated that Gabriella Martinez will be spearheading the pastry program, and patrons can expect a variety of Latin-inspired desserts that push the boundaries of flavor and presentation. Sweet Creature’s pop-up, run by Gabriella and her current venture aside from Libre, has gained a devoted following from her exceptional pastry skills.
Ketsuda will be bringing multiple years of experience in the restaurant industry to Libre, starting in 2008 when she immigrated from Thailand to now as the co-founder of Mestizo and Norah.
According to a recent article from Portland Eater, “Libre will serve a menu of about six plated desserts that run through a spectrum of flavors, from fruit-forward creations utilizing farmers market produce and rich and chocolatey dishes featuring bone marrow caramel to nostalgia-evoking plates like a riff on Circus Animals.”
