Pier 50 Sushi, operated by local Japanese restaurant group Fukumi, is filling in the previous Mikuni space at Market Square near Arden Fair Mall. Fukumi Restaurant Group currently operates multiple Japanese restaurant concepts in the Greater Sacramento Metro, including Fukumi Ramen in Roseville and Citrus Heights, Fukumi Chaya in Folsom, and all-you-can-eat sushi concept ITS SUSHI in Roseville.
According to Fukumi Restaurant Group, Sylbi Song, Pier 50 Sushi will be another all-you-can-eat concept but more elevated compared to ITS SUSHI, including a unique all-you-can-eat sashimi offering, making many sushi lovers’ luxurious dream come true. “[Compared to ITS SUSHI,] Pier 50 will have more exclusive menu items and more premium options will be offered,” Song told What Now Sacramento in an email.
For Sacramento foodies who love Asian Cuisine, Fukumi Restaurant Group is a familiar name and an icon representing friendly price points and outstanding food quality. The group opened its first restaurant, Fukumi Ramen in Roseville in 2020, and soon expanded the same concept into Citrus Heights upon receiving positive feedback from the local community. In 2021, Fukumi established Fukumi Chaya x Momo Katsu in Folsom with a menu centering around Japanese fried pork steak (Katsu). In the following year, ITS SUSHI marked the group’s adventure into the sushi scene.
“Our goal is to accommodate/serve our guests from the West and South Sacramento regions. We have quite a bit of guests who visit our Roseville location from the Bay area as well. We want to ensure that everyone can conveniently enjoy us!” Song told What Now Sacramento in an email.
With Mikuni moving to a different space at the end of its lease terms, Pier 50 would be the perfect addition to keep the Japanese touch in Market Square’s dining scene. With various other establishments and Arden Fair Mall nearby, Pier 50 Sushi will serve diverse customers from various demographics.
The group will receive keys to the 5,661-square-foot space in November and anticipates opening Pier 50 in February or March 2024. Pier 50 Sushi will be located inside Market Square at Arden Fair, at 1735 Arden Wy. Song also hinted that they may be looking to build a second Pier 50 location in Sacramento sometime later in 2024.
