Chicagoans who love high-quality fried chicken slathered with hot sauce, honey mustard, or dijonnaise are in for a real treat now that they will be able to enjoy those birds straight from the fryer. The team behind D. S. Tequila Company is working to eliminate the delivery/pick-up time from their ghost kitchen concept Crispy Chicks by adding in-person service to the restaurant. Yes, you read that right. Crispy Chicks is going brick-and-mortar.
It sounds like the plan has been in the works for a while, with the eatery posting a hiring call to Craigslist just yesterday. “We asked our Executive Chef/General Manager, Lenna, to come up with the tastiest fried chicken recipes from everything we’ve tried over the past decade, and expanded on them. Mix in some savory classic Southern spices and house-made sauces, and we’re ready to feed your face!” reads the advertisement. “We hope you enjoy our new menu concept and lick your fingers with delight!”
Along with 15 house-made sauces, Crispy Chicks has a menu of chicken tenders, the very popular Nashville hot chicken, and sandwiches like Cordon Bleu, Korean Chicken, and The Mother Clucker (this one boasts a secret recipe for the fried chicken plus attitude). You can also indulge in loaded and unloaded mac and cheese dishes. Crispy Chicks even serves up salads and wraps if you’re feeling something a little lighter—though we might judge you just a little.
The eatery has been operating as a take-out only service from the D. S. Tequila Company kitchen at 3352 N Halsted St. It is currently unclear if the brick-and-mortar will maintain the same address, but a second address has not been announced, nor has an opening date.
