Other Half Brewing is getting ready to open its newest location in Philly. The Brooklyn-born Brewery is set to open in December at Goose Island Brewhouse’s former Fishtown location at 1002 Canal St. The 10,000 sq. ft.- plus space will boast more than 20 home-brewed beer taps with 20 other lines open for nitro brewed coffee and whatever else Other Half feels like concocting that week. Customers will also be able to dine at Other Half Brewing’s Philly location which will serve popular pub food with an elevated twist.

Co-founder and COO Andrew Burman told What Now Philadelphia that the company is currently renovating the space with a new entryway and interior and exterior paint jobs. The space’s horseshoe bar will remain, but tables will be de-lacquered for a brightened-up feel and TVs will be placed throughout for sports fans to watch games.

The patio’s walkway will be expanded to accommodate the flow from the inside brewery’s interior and exterior spaces. Other Half Brewing’s outdoor space will eventually have a roof, outdoor bar, outdoor dining, and stage area for musical performances. Burman said that Other Half is also planning collaborations with its new Fishtown neighbors. Burman said that their Philadelphia location came to fruition through serendipity. Other Half wasn’t scouting out new locations when they heard that the lease for the former Goose Island Brewhouse location was opening up through a friend.

“We did not expect to get it. There were a bunch of other breweries applying but they really liked what we were saying and what we to do, Burman said. “What we were really excited about was that our biggest market for online shipping is Philly. We thought, ‘This is something we should look at hard.’ It was like Philly was the perfect bridge from DC to New York. It’s just a great space where people can come and drink and enjoy themselves.”

Other Half Brewing currently has locations in Washington D.C., Brooklyn, and Finger Lakes. They also operate pop-up locations and have plans to turn their Buffalo pop-up into a permanent brick and mortar soon.
