As one local coffee shop closes, another is percolating into a Ballston building. Compass Coffee will be taking over the space vacated by Slipstream earlier this month, reports local media outlet ARLNow.
Compass’s new home at 4300 Wilson Boulevard is located a mere few blocks away from another storefront at 4100 Wilson Boulevard. An official grand opening date is not currently available. However the DMV-favorite chain is hoping to hold a soft opening for its newest location before the end of September.
Compass Coffee is a formidable contender in the DC area java market. The concept has 19 locations spread across the District and Northern Virginia.
Compass Coffee was founded in 2014 by a pair of Marines. The chain’s objective is to craft the perfect, ethical cup of joe. The company’s website states its mission statement as offering: “more than just an outstanding cup of coffee; it’s a commitment to ethical sourcing, skillful blending, and peak roasting. With the hope to grow cafes in and around DC, Compass Coffee’s goal is to provide experiences that go beyond a cup of coffee, crafting rituals that bring people together and enrich daily life.”
