A Virginia Wal-Mart parking lot is getting a new start, full of orange chicken and fried rice. Panda Express is opening a new location in Roanoke, near the superstore, reports WSLS.

The popular chain will be opening in a newly erected building at 4807 Valley Boulevard. Panda Express will be located between gas pumps and a Chick-fil-A.

According to a zoning amendment application submitted to the Department of Planning, Building, and Development the restaurant will occupy 2,500 square feet and provide seating for up to 64 customers. The parking lot will have spaces for up to 51 cars.

Construction is underway on the project, and Panda Express is aiming for a late 2024 opening for the Roanoke restaurant.

Founded in California in 1983, Panda Express has expanded to include more than 2,200 locations, worldwide. The beloved chain, known for its fast-casual interpretations of American Chinese food, has 54 eateries in Virginia.
