Uncle Louie G Italian Ice and Ice Cream, a New York-based Italian ice and ice cream store, is coming to 3007 Edgewater Drive, across from Edgewater High School.

Franchisee Abe Gjura, who is originally from New York, hopes to open in mid-December. He said he has the franchise rights for the entire Orlando area, from Altamonte Springs to Celebration and from Clermont to Oviedo.

“I hope to have five stores open in five years and eight in 10 years,” Gjura said.

He said he will have about 80 flavors of Italian ices and 20 flavors of ice cream.

What’s his favorite flavor of Italian ice?

“Pistachio,” he said without hesitation.

And, his wife and partner, Maryann?

“She likes chocolate cherry ring,” he said.

The popular gourmet Italian ices shops have spread down from New York to New Jersey to Tennessee to Georgia and to Florida.
