A beloved Southern soul food eatery is making a comeback after closing its doors a couple of years ago.

Local chef Noah Coleman is reopening the St George-based Shugs, this time in Summerville at 1208 Central Ave in the former EJ’s Seafood space.

In a recent Facebook post, Coleman—who also owns Krab Krazy Seafood Spot in Ridgeville—shared his excitement with the local foodie community:

“Get ready for a soulful culinary revival! Chef Noah is bringing the beloved soul food experience back to life with the new Shugs, nestled in the heart of Summerville…”

The new Shugs will focus on fast to-go orders, featuring “very limited” seating. “The focus is on quick, flavorful meals that you can enjoy on the move or in the comfort of your home,” Coleman explained.

Diners can look forward to a variety of Southern soul and classic American dishes reminiscent of the original eatery’s offerings, including favorites like shrimp and grits, ribs, steak, pasta, and more.

Coleman is aiming for a grand opening in July 2024. To stay informed about further Shugs developments, follow Krab Krazy Seafood Spot on Facebook.
