A new bistro has been quietly in the works in Auburn near Lake of the Pines. The Grind Bistro, located at 10594 Combie Rd, Ste 2, is anticipated to open sometime in September, according to the business’s Google listing.

Based on information available online, the bistro will serve coffee, smoothies, and beer. As for food, the bistro will serve flatbreads, wraps, bagels, and some starter items. A liquor license for the business appears to be pending, according to records from the Alcoholic Beverage Control. The liquor license application suggests the owner is Michael Sample.

The bistro sits in a shopping center on the northeast corner of Armstrong Road and Combie Road. Other businesses in the same building include Nevada County office and two RE/MAX offices. A massage parlor, a beauty salon, and a business mail reception service can be found in the adjacent building. As the only cafe and eatery on the block, the Grind will bring a much needed option to the center.

“We are a small bistro providing coffee & lunch with a light appetizer and dinner menu on selected nights for the local Lake of the Pines and Bear River community, Our family has been a part of the community for nearly half a century and couldn’t imagine being in business anywhere else. We are excited to provide a friendly place people can feel comfortable and have additional local food options they can enjoy,” said the business on Facebook.

What Now Sacramento reached out to Sample but hadn’t heard back by the time of this coverage.
