Escape Folsom permanently closed its doors last year on Sept. 30. After slightly shy from a year of vacancy, the space at 727 Traders Lane is getting a new tenant. Cocktail lounge Yager Lodge is currently under construction and is anticipated to open early this winter, ideally before Thanksgiving. This news was first seen in the Sacramento Business Journal.

The operators behind the new concept are Eric Rushing and Edmond Meehan, both familiar names in Sacramento’s nightlife and entertainment scene. Rushing is involved with several popular concepts in the area, including Holy Diver, The Cabin, Goldfield Trading Post, Tack Room and Ace of Spades. Rushing also currently serves as vice president of booking for Live Nation’s clubs and theaters after the company bought Ace of Spades. Meehan, on the other hand, is a partner at The Cabin and founder of Please and Thank You, a digital service firm tailored for artists, events, and venues.

The name, Yager Lodge, is a tribute to Peter Yager, who built the historic two-story building in the 1980s. The lounge will have drink and food options with music at the core of its programming, although no live performance is on the horizon at the moment.

“The concept is a little bit of a mixture between The Cabin and a little bit of Tack Room,” Rushing told the Business Journal. “We don’t want to give everything away just yet, but it will be a cocktail bar paired with good food from local chef William Hartzell, who will be overseeing the kitchen.”

What Now Sacramento reached out to the operators but hasn’t heard back by the time of this coverage.
