A new restaurant is opening at 1 Garfield Ave. in the former location of J. Walkers in Clementon, NJ. A Craigslist posting shows that Essie’s Restaurant & Lounge is hiring for all positions on their “winning team,” including servers, bartenders, hostesses, and cooks.
“We are a casual and intimate BYOB with an interesting menu focusing on the wonderful flavors of the Mediterranean, located in Clementon, NJ. Essie’s is a happy neighborhood establishment with delicious food, great cocktails, live music, and cheerful, knowledgeable team members. The atmosphere is comfortable, and only the best quality, freshest ingredients are served,” the Craigslist post reads.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Essie’s is owned by Mike and Cherie Gillespie, who are first-time restaurant owners, and that the bistro was initially slated to open in the fall. A job listing for the restaurant posted on Culinary Agents is listed as expiring by Jan. 15. 2022. What Now Philadelphia didn’t get a response when reaching out through the Craigslist ad.
