Boon Development LLC is planning to open a restaurant and neighborhood market at an old warehouse at 536 Decatur St. SE in Old Fourth Ward.

Plans involve demolition of part of the structure, a 3,577 sq. ft. warehouse dating back to 1940, to construct a new 4,176 sq. ft. building in its place to serve as a space for dining.

The remaining warehouse on site will be repurposed into a sandwich/grocery store with a total of 16 parking spaces, according to July 21 agenda notes from the Atlanta Beltline Design Review Committee, where Tuan Duong, of Long Engineering, and John Cola, of Jefferson Browne Gresham Architects, presented plans for the project.

A restaurant with a covered outdoor seating area and a view of Fetch, the combination restaurant-dog park across the street, would operate within the new building, according to reporting from the Atlanta Business Chronicle.

With the new project, JBG Architects and Long Engineering intend to preserve the architecture of the remaining historic structure, including 75% of a large street-art mural on the building.

Boon Development LLC bought the Decatur Street property from Atlanta-based Old 4th Distillery in May. Craig Moore, co-owner of the distillery, told the Atlanta Business Chronicle that they’ll instead be expanding their business at a different building at 2179 Bouldercrest Road.

Jalal Dayani is the registered agent for Boon Development LLC, according to the Georgia Secretary of State Corporations Division, but What Now couldn’t reach Dayani for comment.
