Good morning, New York! There’s nothing like a good coffee and snack to get your day started, but on a day like today, I might need something a little stronger…
The Coppola Café was founded three years ago by Roberta and Gabriele Napoli at 171 West 4th Street. Natives of Palermo Italy, The Coppola Café is a real Italian experience nestled in a small corner of Sicily in the West Village. Sourcing all of their products directly from Italy, The Coppola Café is the real deal, dedicated above all else to creating an authentic experience.
Part café, part dessert bar, The Coppola Café is a one-stop shop for all your morning needs. The café has become especially popular for its authentic pizza made with Italian ham, as well as its homemade lasagna and gnocchi pasta. The café only uses Miscela D’oro, a specialty coffee that can only be found in Sicily and pairs exceptionally well with their artisanal gelato. At only 3 to 8 percent milkfat, their gelato is light and creamy, and far less intense than traditional American ice cream.
Now, the café is about to radically upgrade their menu with a brand new addition. Gabriele and Roberta are currently in the process of applying for a new beer and wine license, which will see the café offering rare Italian wines and beers to loyal customers. The new change will also see the business extending their hours later into the night in order to accommodate new demands.
Previously closing at 6:30PM (and 7:30PM on weekends), the addition of beer and wine will see the café staying open until 11PM every day. Of course, the café will still be offering its signature gelato and pizza, only with a little extra wine to pair it with. You can follow the café on Instagram for further updates as the story progresses and Gabriele and Roberta are able to confirm their acquisition of the license after meeting with the community board.
