The Hive Sports Bar & Grill is coming soon to Anaheim. The new restaurant will be located at 6362 E. Santa Ana Canyon Road, where it will take over the former Slater’s 50/50 space in Anaheim Hills. The Hive owners, who bring to the table more than 25 years of experience, tell What Now Orange County that they are aiming to open in October.
While details about The Hive Sports Bar & Grill are forthcoming, their website suggests that we can expect a menu with burgers, sandwiches, fresh fries, and delicious sides. There will be a full bar outfitted with a state-of-the-art beer system, 12 beers on tap, four beer towers, and more than 20 TVs broadcasting numerous sporting events.
The space that The Hive may take over was the site of the very first Slater’s 50/50 restaurant, which opened in 2009. It was there that founder Scott Slater’s signature half-bacon, half-beef burger patties took off, launching the brand throughout southern California before its inevitable decline.
In 2016, The Orange County Register reported the sale and closure of several Slater’s 50/50 restaurants, including this former Anaheim Hills location. While Slater told the Register at the time that the restaurants would just be going to a new buyer, it seems that the founding location was still not able to stay afloat in recent years.
In any case, the vacancy makes way for new, exciting businesses to enter the mix, such as The Hive Sports Bar & Grill. For more information and to sign up for updates, visit www.thehivesportsbar.com.
