Yukai Japanese Restaurant will soon be opening at 1717 W 6th Street in downtown Austin, according to a recent filing with the State of Texas. The restaurant will be on the west end of 6th street, near Mopac. The most notable nearby restaurant is El Arroyo, the Mexican restaurant with the consistently quirky sign in the front.

Owner Greg Koh tells What Now Austin that he is very early in the process and that there are no opening dates yet set. He was unable to provide further information about the restaurant as he had an upcoming meeting with the City of Austin to discuss the restaurant’s construction.

Greg Koh boasts an impressive resume in the global restaurant industry, having held positions in direction and management at several ventures in Singapore, South Korea, Vanuatu, and the United States, according to his LinkedIn page.

While What Now Austin was unable to obtain specifics about the upcoming restaurant’s offerings, foodies can trust that it will serve high-quality Japanese staples with an internationally experienced restauranteur at the helm.
