The national chicken sandwich chain Chick-Fil-A seeks to remodel its drive-thru capabilities at its 503 W Martin Luther King Jr Blvd location in Austin, according to a recent filing with the State of Texas. The location stands on key territory in Central Austin, just across the street from the University of Texas at Austin.
The filing states that the renovations will specifically concern “interior extension of the drive-thru cockpit area and replacing drive-thru window with sliding drive-thru door. Finish modifications and patching as required, new equipment provided, and new structural support at demolished wall” and will cost an estimated $500,000 to complete.
What Now Austin recently reached out to John Romanello, Chick-Fil-A’s Principal Program Lead to inquire about the changes and how they will affect traffic flow and customer experience, but he was not immediately available for comment.
Founded in Hapeville, Georgie by Truett Cathy in 1946, Chick-Fil-A has since become one of the most notable and ubiquitous fast casual restaurants in the United States. Chick-fil-A is especially known for its chicken sandwiches, chicken tenders, hospitable staff, and being consistently, unequivocally closed on Sundays.
