Recognizable from appearances in hit TV shows like True Blood and Glee, Vegas-born actor David Lewis has returned to his hometown, where he is preparing to embark on a new venture. His coffee shop, Double Shot, will open soon in the Market at Laughlin, located at 3100 Needles Highway.
Born and raised in Las Vegas, Lewis got his start competing nationally as a figure skater.
“When I retired, I went into acting,” Lewis told What Now on Tuesday. “I spent the last few years in LA. Then, right when I hit my late twenties, I found out I had an autoimmune disease—which probably had to do with my retirement from skating—and also an alcohol use disorder.”
Having reached a turning point, Lewis returned home to regroup and devote his energies to recovery. Double Shot represents a new phase and a new direction.
“The menu is all organic and sustainable,” Lewis said, adding that proceeds from some items will go to organizations that support people with substance issues.
Upon opening, the menu will revolve largely around breakfast. Expect killer bagels and lox, breakfast sandwiches, and pastries prepared by local bakeries. (Lunch and dinner dishes are likely to be rolled out in the future, Lewis says.)
On the beverage side, a familiar selection of coffee and tea drinks will accompany both pressed juices and a selection of mocktails like the True Bloody Mary.
“I’m very big on no plastic. Everything will be compostable and eco-friendly,” Lewis added.
Keep an eye out for Double Shot Opening soon in Laughlin. And if you’re not used to traveling that far south, Double Shot promises to be worth the trek.
