According to a recent permit filing, a new microbrewery called Douglas Lager is set to open in Tacoma at 2101 Jefferson Avenue.

“We’re anticipating the beer to be on-premises at local Seattle bars and restaurants shortly, and expanding through the Cascadia later on,” Chris Smith, the CEO, told What Now Seattle.

“Our goal is to bring a delicious, balanced, and macro-style lager back to the Pacific Northwest with the release of Douglas Lager. We see Douglas as a return to simpler times and will first have the beer available in bottles at local bars and restaurants. The beer is also made with four locally sourced ingredients and the name and design of the bottle is tied to the PNW and its heritage. We’re excited to bring back an everyday lager that is brewed and bottled locally, like there to use to be, to customers.”

Douglas Lager is described as a classic, mouthwatering lager meticulously brewed and bottled right here in the heart of the Pacific Northwest, using ingredients sourced from the region. This isn’t a beer crafted in far-off locales like Colorado, St. Louis, or Belgium; it’s a brew that embraces the essence of our local terroir.

According to their official press release, the Douglas Lager Kickstarter page features multiple options to back the launch, with pledge options ranging from $50 to $1,000. Rewards are received for each pledge level. These include an exclusive, Kickstarter-only Dougie Bucket Hat, a Douglas Lager Care Package featuring branded swag, a Douglas Lager Jersey inspired by a famed PNW sports team, an old-school wooden beer crate, and the option to meet with the people behind the scenes and see the historic machinery in Tacoma, including some pieces from Olympia Beer’s old bottling line, that helps brings Douglas Lager to life.
