It’s now more than three years since news first broke that beloved Hawaiian restaurant Kono’s Northshore was making the journey to Hawaii’s ninth island of Las Vegas. Time flies! These days, you can visit Kono’s at 7591 W Washington Avenue—and it now appears the brand is looking to expand its Vegas footprint to another location.
Licensing paperwork has been submitted to Clark County by Kono’s Northshore LV1 LLC for a restaurant that would open at 3850 E Desert Inn Road.
The Kono’s Las Vegas menu features breakfast Bombers (served with eggs, potatoes, and a blend of shredded jack and cheddar cheese wrapped in a warm flour tortilla) in varieties like the Waimea (bacon, bacon & more bacon) and the Pupukea (tomatoes, onions, and green bell peppers). There are bagels, Kalua pork Sliders, Kapahulu Tacos, and 9th Island Features like the Viva Las Vegas Waffle (made to order waffle topped with 4oz. of slow roasted kalua pork served with maple syrup or coconut syrup) and the Summerlin Pkwy Potato Bowl (Seasoned potatoes, scrambled eggs and cheese topped with your choice of protein or veggies and served with house made salsa).
“Kono’s opened its doors in 2002 in Haleiwa on the world-famous North Shore of Oahu,” says copy on the brand’s menu. “For all those years we have continued to serve our growing ‘ohana with the best kalua pig on the islands in the form of our award-winning breakfasts and plate lunches which are served alongside our hand-crafted milkshakes and freshly squeezed limemade and lemonades.”
The building at 3850 E Desert Inn Road currently houses Old Vegas Tavern.
