A brand new restaurant, Far Corner, is getting ready to debut in Downtown San Diego at 410 Tenth Avenue.
Previously, What Now San Diego reported on BASIC Bar & Pizza relocating to the nearby Park 12 Development at 100 Park Plz following the Padres’ 2024 season, which ended a few weeks ago when the Dodgers beat them in the divisional series. It was a surprising announcement, considering Jon Mangini has operated the well-known pizza joint from that spot since 2006. At the time, little was known about what would replace BASIC Bar & Pizza.
Now, a new concept called Far Corner will replace the site, according to a recent liquor license application. The restaurant will be owned and operated by Maxwell Senescall, Karen Berry, and Phillip Senescall, who also own Professional Maintenance Systems janitorial service. There is no exact timeline for this opening, but it will likely be sometime early next year, considering BASIC has recently begun transitioning to the new 5,000-square-foot space. When Far Corner makes its debut, customers can expect a menu full of pizza and alcoholic options.
This location will be excellent for the new business, just a few steps away from Petco Park in a busy downtown setting. On top of being close to Park at the Park, making it an excellent spot for concert-goers to visit either before or after a show, it will also benefit from the dozens of other entertainment-types businesses found throughout Downtown, such as the new Arcade Monsters San Diego and Throw It! While Far Corner will have some big shoes to fill once BASIC exits the space, the location will undoubtedly provide the business with plenty of foot traffic to survive.
