Healthy as a Motha, a plant-based Caribbean catering company based out of Queens, is opening its first highly-anticipated sit-down in East Williamsburg this fall.
Healthy as a Motha started operating out of a ghost kitchen in Sunnyside, Queens, to provide plant-based Caribbean fare with a focus on Dominican and Trinidadian cuisine. Its founder and chef Yesenia Ramdass began serving her food at various festivals and pop-up events while also offering catering and take-out services. The highly-anticipated news landed it a shoutout in the recently published New York Times 18 New Restaurants to Put on Your Fall List article published in August.
“With tears in my eyes writing this I’m thrilled to announce that this Fall of 2023, we’ll be spreading our wings to East Williamsburg, Brooklyn,” Ramdass wrote on Instagram. “Our first brick and mortar restaurant is on the horizon, a sanctuary where stories are told through cultures, spices and vibes woven into every dish.”
The sit-down is slated to offer 30-seats on its premises. Its all vegan menu includes but is not limited to tofu curry and sweet plantain boats, which strives to help customers “savor the fusion of island flavors.”
