We’ve been waiting almost two years for Master Kim’s Korean BBQ to open its third outpost in Las Vegas, this time at 5599 Spring Mountain Road. Although news of the planned location broke in early 2021, the new Master Kim’s has faced a series of pandemic-related delays, with problems related to the availability of building materials and to the ubiquitous bureaucratic backlog of the post-2020 world.
Earlier this week, however, What Now found paperwork showing that Clark County has issued a building permit for the location, which is in a retail center that sits on West Spring Mountain Road about halfway between Duneville Street and South Lindell Road. So we reached out to owner Freddy Hwang for an update on the restaurant’s progress.
“There have been a lot of delays,” Hwang said, with the stoic acceptance of the post-COVID restaurateur. “It looks like it’s going to be Spring 2023.”
That was all Hwang would say on the matter. But this means we can confirm it: the long, long-awaited Spring Mountain Master Kim’s Korean BBQ is coming. That means more of the brand’s all-you-can-eat Korean barbecue, with its massive range of proteins, from Black Angust Beef Brisket, to Spicy Baby Octopus; from Organic Kurobata Pork Belly, to Beef Tongue; and from Bulgogi, to Butter Lemon Shrimp—all topped off with sides like Steamed Eggs, Kimchi Pancake, and Japchae.
Hang in there just a little longer, Las Vegas. Master Kim’s is coming.
