PowerSoul Cafe, the world’s first gluten-free fast-food chain, will open its flagship location in southwest Las Vegas this summer. Originally planning on a summer 2022 opening, PowerSoul Cafe has faced delays, but owner Dina Mitchell says construction is about to begin on the first Las Vegas location.

“It also may not just be one location,” Mitchell told What Now on Thursday, adding that the brand is currently in negotiations for sites in the southeast and in North Las Vegas. “We are very close on at least two Partner Locations.”

Each item on the PowerSoul Cafe menu is certified 100 percent gluten-free. There will be choices for both meat-lovers and plant-based diners, along with those following dairy-free or keto diets.

The menu will include smoothies, organic veggies, nutritious supplements, gluten-free items and vegan items. A kids’ menu is also available, featuring corn dogs and crispy chicken nuggets. Breakfast items will be served all day.

PowerSoul’s locations are streamlined, foregoing dine-in seating in favor of a drive-thru and walk-up-window. Mitchell said dine-in doesn’t seem to make sense for fast food in the post-COVID world.

“And if we’re going to accomplish all our plans for doing good in the community, it’s important that we’re profitable,” Mitchell said. “Plus, the idea is to make the job easy for the employees: fewer employees doing an easier job they really like.”

PowerSoul’s plans for giving back to the community include partnerships with the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, including offering employees opportunities to work (for pay) at the Boys and Girls Club. Opening festivities are also expected to revolve around charitable giving, with items offered for free and a suggested one-dollar donation to the charity.

“I don’t see how discounting a product someone’s never tried before makes sense,” Mitchell said. “I’m confident enough about my product that I think I can hook people just giving it away.”
