Stay warm this winter with an authentic Argentinian meal at Tierra de Fuegos, an upcoming restaurant centered around Argentina’s open-flame cooking tradition.
Tierra de Fuegos — which translates to “land of fires” — is slated to open during winter 2023 at 27901 La Paz Road, part of the Laguna Niguel Promenade, in the currently empty suite A next to hair salon Great Clips.
A recently submitted plan review confirms that address. The restaurant’s owner is Mariano Molteni, could not be immediately reached for comment.
According to the Tierra de Fuegos website, Molteni previously owned Maro Wood Grill and Royal Hawaiian, both of which are Laguna Beach restaurants that remain open. In 2017, between those two ventures, he traveled to Argentine Patagonia, taking part in what the website describes as an “age-old ritual of gathering around a wood-burning fire” to enjoy the region’s native cuisine.
“This expedition proved to be a transformative experience that rejuvenated our love for cooking and exposed us to the rich and diverse culinary traditions of Argentina,” the site states.
Now, Molteni is ready to channel that experience into Tierra de Fuegos. Although the restaurant is not yet advertising its upcoming menu, the website promises it to be “a refreshing tribute to simplicity, artfully balancing the bold and charred flavors derived from the fire with lighter ingredients.”
Tierra de Fuegos’ website offers a newsletter sign-up for those interested in receiving opening day updates and other announcements.
