Fresh on the heels of last week’s grand opening in Souderton, Italian sausage and Philly cheesesteak concept Rocco’s – known for its exclusive presence outside Home Depots – will be opening numerous other locations throughout the region, including Upper Darby at 5342 Baltimore Pike and 200 Alan Wood Rd in Conshohocken, according to director of operations, Dan Winter Jr.
While Rocco’s did starting licensing the brand and operations a few years ago, for now, the Upper Darby and Conshohocken outposts will be managed internally with the option to license should an opportunity present itself in the future.
“It’s been a pleasure and a very exciting experience to do business outside of the #1 Home Improvement Retailer in the country,” Dan Winter Jr tells What Now Philadelphia. “Rocco’s believes it is more than just food, it’s an experience. We want each and every one of our customers to have the best possible experience when choosing Rocco’s.”
As they say, big things come in small packages, and despite each restaurant standing at around 400 square feet, they pack a serious punch with an extensive menu of steak, chicken, and portabella sandwiches in a variety of flavors including Buffalo, BBQ, Teriyaki, Pizza, and of course Cheesesteak, as well as the signature Italian Sausage sandwiches.
The company has been steadily growing since it first appeared on the scene back in 2000, with an outpost opened by founder Richard “Rocco” Guardino at a Home Depot in Long Island City. Over the next two decades, the brand began popping up at more and more Home Depots, resulting in a presence at all five locations in Philadelphia, capped off with its first suburban expansion in the region last week.
“We’re very excited about the expansion and hope to have many more locations opening in the near future,” says Dan Winter Jr.
