The mother-daughter team of Taylor Romero and Channon Smyly are bringing a taste of French elegance to Nazareth this summer. Let Them Eat Cake will be opening at 143 South Main Street in late June, reports local media outlet The Morning Call.
Owner Taylor Romero spoke to What Now Philadelphia about what customers can expect at Let Them Eat Cake, stating “Our vision is to create a space where people feel fancy. Where they see the color in the world. We want to add a taste of French regency to daily life.”
Romero credits Marie Antoinette with inspiring the establishment, saying “she made every day indulgent.”
Romero spent more than a year looking for the perfect location for her shop. The Main Street storefront is the ideal spot for the Nazareth local, who can quickly walk to her new bakery. “We wanted something local and close. We really want to be a part of the community. This place has the equipment and space we need.”
Romero will handle baking responsibilities while her mother, Smyly, manages the business side of the operation. While Romero has been baking out of her home for more than two years, her partnership with her mother is a new development. Romero is looking forward to the new venture, stating “There’s no one else I’d rather do this with.”
Let Them Eat Cake will specialize in character macarons. The customizable cookies will be exclusive to the shop. Guests can request their favorite characters. Romero recommends customers new to macarons try her best-selling flavor, honey lavender.
Romero and Smyly are currently focusing on turning Let Them Eat Cake into a success. The pair hope to eventually expand to multiple storefronts.
