Paoli residents looking for a regular hangout for a chill night out will soon have a new favorite watering-hole. Five Star Restaurant Group is opening Main Line Tavern in the space that formerly housed the Great American Pub, reports the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The casual restaurant will be occupying approximately 5,000 square feet at 516 East King Road. The area will allow for indoor seating of up to 200 customers. Five Star is hoping to have the tavern up, running, and welcoming guests by April of 2024.

Additionally, the hospitality group is negotiating the purchase of the adjacent lot, which is currently housing a defunct car wash. Five Star is hoping to use the additional area to install an outdoor seating area as well as gaining additional parking spaces

Co-owner Philip Ferro explains that the largely residential area lacks a cozy, neighborhood pub. Five Star plans to fill that void. Ferro states “The area is a lot of arugula, microgreens and lemon juice, as we say. We think the area needs a tavern, an everyday place where people can come and relax. So, that’s what we’re shooting for, the homestyle feel, the comfortable atmosphere…”

Main Line Taverns menu, ably overseen by Chef Iggy Acuna, will feature classic American bar fare, ranging from steaks to sandwiches. Co-owner Kate Ferro will curate the drink list, which will include cocktails, wine, and beer.

Five Star is currently working to renovate the building, with upgrades including painting, reupholstering the furniture, and laying new floor. Additionally, the hospitality group is building new banquet tables and updating the tavern’s design.
