The creators behind one of South Jersey’s favorite burgers are planning to spread their delicious fare across the Greater Philadelphia region. Gouldsburger’s, which has developed a considerable fan-base since opening its first location in April of 2023, is planning to begin franchising, reports the Philadelphia Business Journal.
Gouldsburger’s owners David Murray and Walter Gouldsbury have not yet signed on any franchisees, though the pair have several locations they are considering for new restaurants. The duo are hoping to begin their franchising endeavor with six or seven restaurants, with up to four opening before 2025.
Gouldsbury and Murray are considering several potential locations as new homes for their culinary creation, including Stone Harbor, Ocean City, Avalon, Mount Laurel, Ambler, Moorestown, Chestnut Hill, and of course Center City Philadelphia. Speaking of the City of Brotherly Love, Murray states “The beautiful thing about Philadelphia is you could be three, four blocks away from each other, and it’s an eternity. You’re not going to cannibalize each other’s business at all.”
Murray and Gouldsbury will still be very involved in every aspect of the Gouldsburger’s restaurants. Murray explains: “We want to be hands-on. We want to give each franchisee the attention that they need and deserve to make sure they’re set up for success.”
