The pizza slingers over at Lazy Moon have spun quite the origin story. Owners Tim Brown and Matt Griffis would have you believe their ancestors, or at least the pre-cursor pies to today’s “lazy faves,” predate even the signing of the Declaration of Independence. But does it really matter what they say if the pies are this good?

Lazy Moon’s pizza is so popular the eatery is expanding for the second time. Orlando Business Journal reports Lazy Moon is very likely to open its third brick-and-mortar at 441 S. Orlando Ave in Maitland. The deal for the 3,816 square-foot stand-alone site is close to being finalized, although a lease has not yet been signed. 441 S. Orlando Ave. most recently housed Einstein Bagels.

At Lazy Moon, you can build your own slice, however the eatery recommends those “lazy favs,” which come in varieties like ‘Cuban Slice,’ ‘Down Home,’ and ‘Jason’s Mom’s Slice.” The ‘Boxcar Willy’ gets you a slice and a pint of PBR for a mere $6.50. Salads, soups, calzones, and cocktails also grace the pizza shop’s menu.

Lazy Moon the third is projected to open in the third quarter of 2022. We were unable to reach the co-owners are the time of publication, but you can find Lazy Moon on social media to see those enormous, historical pies made with the shop’s simple, enduring mission in mind: Allow the customer to Eat, Drink and be Lazy.
