Restaurateur Dwyane McQuillen has been wondering: where can I go for a better burger in Lake Wales? Seeking a joint that grills a better burger than the usual fast food offering led McQuillen to draw the plans for Brake Burger Garage. McQuillen shared with What Now on Friday that he intends to bring a good fast casual joint to the area.

We can expect to see the concept at 206 E Highway 60, in a former gas station building. McQuillen noted that they received their permits for construction this week, and they plan to undergo the build-out as soon as possible. He shared that the summer is their opening goal.

McQuillen is adding Brake Burger Garage to his portfolio of two restaurants. He is the proprietor of the seafood restaurants Crazy Fish Bar and Grill and Harry’s Old Place in Winter Haven. Both establishments are full service casual restaurants.

Enthusiasts of McQuillen’s other work won’t have to travel too far to try the new concept. According to Google Maps, Crazy Fish is only a mile away, and Harry’s is about 10 miles – or a 20-minute drive – down the road.
