According to recent reporting in OBJ, a new independent cigar bar is coming to town.
62 Cigar Bar and Social Club will be opening in the outskirts of Winter Garden, specifically at 15487 Sunquat Drive in Hamlin, in about 11 months.
“The businesses, owned by Donny and Candace Itwaru, will break ground Nov. 5 at 15487 Sunquat Drive in the Hamlin neighborhood of Horizon West. Their other business, Regency Wine and Liquor of Winter Garden, opened in April 2009 at 16100 Marsh Road,” the OBJ reports.
Reportedly, the cigar bar will have two 1,000-square-foot patios and feature “a sunken living room, private seating areas, a speakeasy-style private room and a walk-in humidor.”
“I wanted to create a space where the cigars were kept in a separate room. If you wanted to purchase cigars, you had to go in there,” states owner Donny Itwaru.
“But if you wanted to smoke, you’ll be in an open space, like a social gathering club, something like Mathers in downtown Orlando. Typically, when you go in a cigar lounge, it’s smoky. Your eyes start to turn red; your clothes start to smell. I wanted something different – a place where men could bring their wives.”
What Now Orlando briefly reached Mr. Itwaru to inquire about the specifics of the food & beverage selection, but he was not immediately available to answer the questions.
However, the OBJ report does states that tapas will be served, imagined by Chef Heberto Segura from The Drake Kitchen + Bar in downtown Orlando.
“It’s going to be really good,” Itwaru states.
