Korean street food franchise Hanshin Pocha will make its Arizona debut this year. The restaurant recently applied for its liquor license at 1130 W. Grove Ave. in Mesa, where it is currently under construction at Grove Towne Center.

Owner Myung Joo Shin tells What Now Phoenix that she hopes to open by early October, if all goes according to plan. She adds that it will be similar to the location in Los Angeles, where it is a popular Soju pub in the city’s K-town district.

Traditional Korean street dishes such as Gyeran-mari, Hanshin Tongdak, and Sunsal Chicken are prepared with fresh ingredients by a master chef, and paired with a selection of Korean sojus. A popular franchise based in Korea, Hanshin Pocha is considered to serve some of the highest quality pocha-style dishes.

Pocha-style restaurants are inspired by Pojangmacha, street food stalls in South Korea that are popular for serving foods such as hotteok, gimbap, tteokbokki, dakkochi, and more. In the evenings, they usually also serve alcoholic beverages to go with the food.
