Ocho Rios Jerk Spot, the authentic Jamaican cuisine restaurant, is getting ready to open a new location in the Laveen Village Center.
The family-owned restaurant has been serving the Phoenix area and beyond since 2017 and has been working on a second location in Goodyear since last year. Now co-owners Theressa Miller and Chris “Mr. Sweets” Lyons are opening a new site in Laveen. Miller tells What Now Phoenix that a few more things need to get done, but she hopes to open the new location in about four months. The restaurant is named after a northern part of Jamaica in St. Ann’s Parish, which was a fishing village in the 1940s.
The restaurant celebrates the rich history of the Caribbean and has everything the culture can offer, including authentic Jamaican cuisine, exotic cocktails, live entertainment, Caribbean Brunch, Caribbean parties, festivals, and more. Customers can expect delicious food at this restaurant, including Jamaican patties, jerk chicken and shrimp, plantains, curry chicken, oxtail, tilapia, and more. There will be vegetarian and vegan options as well. Ocho Rios also has plenty of desserts to offer.
It’s unclear exactly where in the Laveen Village Center Ocho Rios will sit, but it will be one of the most exotic options in the shopping center. Other restaurants in the area include Pho Laveen Vietnamese Cuisine, Long Wongs of Laveen, D Taco Pit, and various fast food chains. Ocho Rios also offers catering and reservations and occasionally hosts community outreach events.
