A Colorful Arcadia Cantina Is Serving Its Final Meals This Weekend

A local favorite Mexican cantina will permanently shut down this weekend. Funky Frida’s, part of the O.H.S.O. Spirits restaurant group, confirmed its closure with a social media announcement. The restaurant space will be transformed into a private event venue.

Funky Frida’s Set to Close This Weekend

Funky Frida’s, a Frida Kahlo-inspired Mexican restaurant, announced it will permanently close. The restaurant, located at 4910 E Indian School Road in Phoenix, Arizona, will serve its final meal on August 16, 2026.

The restaurant is well known for its colorful and bright murals, maximalist decor, and stained glass lanterns. It serves a blend of Mexico City-inspired cuisine with bold flavors and cocktails.

According to a Phoenix New Times report, Funky Frida’s opened in October 2025. Before Funky Frida’s opened, the space housed Little O’s Arcadia Market, a counter-service restaurant and coffee shop.

The former coffee shop was part of O.H.S.O. Brewery+ Distillery. After the Little O’s renovation, it was transformed into Funky Frida.

In the closure announcement post, the Funky Frida’s team thanked the community for its support. They wrote, “Thank you for making Funky Frida’s part of your date nights, Taco Tuesdays, weekends, and celebrations.”

The Space Transforms into a Private Event Venue

The restaurant operated by O.H.S.O. Spirits plans to transform the Funky Frida’s space into a private event venue. The space will host special events, gatherings, corporate events, and weddings.

The restaurant assured that though it is closing, it does not mean a permanent goodbye. The team wrote, ‘The memories aren’t ending. We’re excited to make more with you.’

In the post, the team encouraged the customers to stop in for one more meal and raise their glasses to celebrate the restaurant’s journey.As the restaurant shared the closure news, several customers shared their sadness on social media.

Even though Funky Frida’s was operational for less than a year, it will leave a lasting impression on the dining community.
