The team behind New Orleans’s Turkey and the Wolf and Molly’s Rise and Shine is in the works of opening a new restaurant going by the name Manson’s Meat & Three, according to a recently-filed building permit application.
The restaurant, owned by sandwich master Manson Hereford, will open on 7507 Maple Street, the location of a previous store tenant named Favori Deli & Grocery, a restaurant and store that opened in 1997 and known locally for its Po’boy sandwiches recently closed making the space available for new restaurant tenants to move in.
Handling the renovation and design of the 1,921 square foot restaurant will be Graham Hill Architect LLC, according to construction plans reviewed by What Now New Orleans. The building will refurbish the patio space, kitchen, and equipment, and add an overall new concept theme for the restaurant. Manson’s Meat & Three will have a dine-in area to accommodate 24 tables, 12 bar seats, and a total of 48 seats for the outdoor patio area.
Hereford worked in restaurants around the country, including San Francisco and Charleston, before moving to New Orleans in 2008. He became the chef de cuisine at Coquette and at Sweet Olive, which has since closed. He opened Turkey and the Wolf in the Irish Channel in 2016. Their most famous dish on the menu is the fried bologna sandwich. In 2019 Hereford opened his second restaurant, Molly’s Rise and Shine. The restaurant is a breakfast spot that serves American classics with a twist, such as the Sweet Potato Burrito and the Grand Slam McMuffin. Both of his restaurants are casual with a retro flare and Manson’s Meat & Three will likely keep up the retro-inspired tradition.
News on what the restaurant is set to serve is unclear as of now but one can guess that a restaurant with meat in the name, built in an old deli, and the owner being an award-winning sandwich maker, the restaurant will likely have delicious cold cut dishes as part of the menu.
