From Mangos Daquiris to CJ’s Daquiris, there are a lot of great daiquiri spots in Baton Rouge, but there’s been a bit of a gap in the local daiquiri tapestry in East Baton Rouge along Essen Lane. It looks like that’s about to change according to a rezoning petition recently filed with the city.
According to the petition, Louisiana Daquiri Factory is planned for a former Subway restaurant in the Essen Crossing Plaza. Located just a 13-minute drive from downtown, the Louisiana Daquiri Factory will focus primarily on that great Louisiana tradition of selling frozen daiquiris and other alcoholic drinks. The filing is petitioning to allow the business to proceed with a Class A Beer & Liquor license in District 11, which is the district of councilmember Laurie Adams. A commercial listing revealed that the space being leased for the Louisiana Daquiri Factory is 1,348 square feet.
Although it’s a pretty modest plaza compared to the nearby Mall of Louisiana and Perkins Rowe facilities, the Essen Crossing Plaza isn’t without its charms and there are a number of great dining destinations in the area, including the upscale Olive or Twist and the Ichiban Japanese Grill and Sushi Bar. We did reach out multiple times to ownership for more details but were only told that more details are forthcoming in a few weeks.
