An online fashion retailer with South Asian influences is preparing to open its first brick-and-mortar boutique in Uptown at 4212 Magazine St. According to a recent city permit filing, the upcoming Magic Collective store will complement the brand’s existing e-commerce shop, offering in-person shopping, fitting rooms, and direct retail sales. The collections celebrate modern design while honoring Indian craftsmanship, featuring garments made with hand-block-printed textiles and various fashion accessories. The storefront will also stock select home merchandise, including table linens and napkins. What Now New Orleans has reached out for more information.

The Magic Collective was founded by local entrepreneur Mamta Melwani, who draws inspiration from her South Asian roots, often collaborating with local artisans and designers. Melwani also operates Mardi Gras Creations, partnering with local krewes and organizations to design products celebrating local culture. Beyond her business endeavors, Melwani is a prominent community leader and philanthropist, having chaired fundraising campaigns for Second Harvest Food Bank and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
