In business for more than 50 years, Hammond staple Tommy’s on Thomas is expanding to Covington, establishing Tommy’s Pizza at 69305 LA-21. Known for its scratch-made dough and signature stone-baked pies, the restaurant offers a varied menu that spans traditional pizza builds to creative regional offerings like the Voodoo Pizza, topped with creole barbecue sauce, jalapenos, pineapple, and alligator sausage. Guests can also expect an array of appetizers, ‘loaded’ breadsticks, Italian pasta dishes, and toasted sandwiches. What Now New Orleans has reached out for more information.

The expansion marks a new chapter for a brand with Northshore roots that date back to the early 1970s. Founder Tommy Burchard established the original location on Highway 51 based on family recipes. The business transitioned to new ownership in 1989 before relocating to its current downtown Hammond location on Thomas Street in 2003. Following another ownership change and extensive interior renovation in 2024 aimed at preserving its classic charm, Tommy’s is now bringing its long-standing concept across parish lines.
