Prolific restauranteur Ruben Chavez has built a mini-empire of restaurants and is probably best known as the man behind El Paso Mexican Grill, which has numerous locations in Louisiana and across the South. According to a rezoning application filed with the City of Baton Rouge, Chavez is switching things up and planning to open a seafood spot at 5252 S Sherwood Forest Plaza called 225 Crab – Juicy Seafood and Bar. Facebook posts for the planned restaurant suggest it will offer seafood boils and fresh oysters.

The opening of a new seafood spot is proof that Chavez isn’t a one-trick pony and the successful restauranteur also recently announced he would be opening a traditional American sports bar concept in Lafayette. The native of Guadalajara, Mexico came to the United States in the ‘80s and he has mostly focused on opening restaurants in smaller towns. That said, there is an El Paso Mexican Grill in the Irish Channel on Magazine Street.
