After opening in the fall of 2023, a successful D. P. Dough location near the LSU campus is looking to expand its facilities for the addition of a drive-thru daiquiri shop. Owner Akshaykumar Solanki has filed a rezoning application with the City of Baton Rouge for the shop and the planning board is set to take up the issue at an upcoming meeting.  Solanki recently told What Now New Orleans that adding a daiquiri shop makes perfect sense for the area.

“I don’t see any daiquiris in that area besides what you can get from bars,” he said. “So if I have that spot and I have a drive-thru, why not expand? We can add more business and make getting daiquiris more convenient.”

If it were to be approved, Solanki said, the daiquiri shop would have a different brand than D. P. Dough and it would operate alongside the calzone restaurant, which is known for catering to the late-night crowd. There are more than 60 D. P. Dough locations, including two in New Orleans.
