Since the early 1900s, Nor-Joe Imports has been an Italian specialty grocery shop and deli in Metairie. In recent years under (relatively) new owner Mark Subervielle, the shop has remained relevant by updating its offerings with both New Orleans classics and contemporary Italian foods. Now, the shop is on the move as it prepares to expand its mission and meet the demands of its growing fan base. Subervielle closed the shop on Frisco Avenue in early October and plans to reopen it on Veterans Boulevard this fall. What Now New Orleans contacted the owner for more information but he declined to provide additional details for the time being.

Nor-Joe Imports is probably best known for its muffuletta, which features a distinctive olive salad made with two types of olives and shredded carrots. The shop is also becoming increasingly known for its cheese wheel pasta, which involves hot pasta being tossed in a hollowed-out wheel of parmesan cheese. According to NOLA.com, Subervielle is moving the store to a location with a larger production facility that could facilitate the opening of additional stores.
